Discover more about the audition process and criteria requirements, to start a successful career in the performing arts. 

Entrance Criteria 

Entry into the college is by audition and interview for students from 16 years of age. Entry requirements are dependant upon talent, attitude and the determination to succeed. 
 
Auditions are held throughout the year. Once you have submitted your application, you will be contacted with the next available audition date. 
 
Video submissions are accepted but only with strict prior consultation with the college. 

Audition Criteria 

During the audition you will need to demonstrate the following to be accepted onto the course: 
 
An all-around talent with potential for training and development for employment within a multi-skilled industry. 
A good understanding of musicality. 
Personality and presence. 
Determination and a positive attitude. 
 
You will then have to the opportunity to present the following, depending on the course application. 

BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre Performance (+18yrs) 

Applicants will be required to: 
 
Take part in a Dance Class which incorporates Jazz Technique and an interview. 
Prepare & present one song from a musical theatre repertoire and one monologue (from a published play). You must also present a dance solo of your choice. 
Ideally you will have 2-3 A Levels or a Level 3 Extended Diploma at grade Pass/Merit, in a performing arts-related area 
GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above or equivalent 
Prior practical experience essential 
Good Written communication skills 
 
*all performances to last no longer than 2 minutes each. 

Level 6 Trinity Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre (+16yrs) 

Applicants will be required to: 
 
Prepare and Perform 1 Musical Theatre Song and provide a backing track. 
Prepare and Perform a monologue – This must be from a published play. 
Prepare and Perform a dance solo in any style and provide a backing track. 
Interview with the audition panel. 
 
*all performances to last no longer than 2 minutes each. 

HNC/D in Performing Arts - Musical Theatre (+18yrs) 

Applicants will be required to: 
 
Take part in a Dance Class which incorporates Jazz Technique and an interview. 
Prepare & present one song from a musical theatre repertoire and one monologue (from a published play). You must also present a dance solo of your choice.  
Ideally you will have a Level 3 Extended Diploma at grade Pass/Merit, in a performing arts-related area 
GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above or equivalent 
Prior practical experience essential 
Good Written communication skills 
 
*all performances to last no longer than 2 minutes each. 

HNC/D in Performing Arts - Dance (+18yrs) 

Applicants will be required to: 
 
Take part in a Dance Class which incorporates Jazz Technique and an interview. 
Prepare and Perform two contrasting Dance Styles 
Ideally you will have a Level 3 Extended Diploma at grade Pass/Merit, in a performing arts-related area 
GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above or equivalent 
Prior practical experience essential 
Good Written communication skills 
 
*all performances to last no longer than 2 minutes each. 

BTEC level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts Practice (+16yrs) 

Applicants will be required to: 
 
Prepare and Perform 1 Musical Theatre Song and provide a backing track. 
Prepare and Perform a monologue – This must be from a published play 
Prepare and Perform a dance solo in any style and provide a backing track. 
GCSE Maths and English at level 4 or above is preferred however there is the opportunity for these two subjects to be taken at the college if not achieved prior. 
 
*all performances to last no longer than 2 minutes each. 

3 Year Professional Musical Theatre Diploma (+16yrs) 

Applicants will be required to: 
 
Prepare and Perform 1 Musical Theatre Song and provide a backing track. 
Prepare and Perform a monologue – This must be from a published play. 
Prepare and Perform a dance solo in any style and provide a backing track. 
Interview with the audition panel. 
 
*all performances to last no longer than 2 minutes each. 

3 Year Professional Dance Diploma (+16yrs) 

Applicants will be required to: 
 
Take part in a Dance Class which incorporates Jazz Technique. 
Prepare and Perform two contrasting Dance Styles 
Interview with the audition panel. 
 
*all performances to last no longer than 2 minutes each. 

What happens next? 

Once you have completed your audition, you will be notified within 2 weeks if you have been successful.  
If accepted, you will receive further information about the course and what is required of you.

To apply for an audition, click on the button below to download the application form. Complete it and attach/scan two head & shoulder photographs (passport style). There is a refundable £20 Audition Fee. This is refunded off your registration fee if you are accepted and you accept your place.
